Iowa concussion law requires schools to respond to student athletes by removing students from activity, assessing concussion and observing return to learn and return to play protocols. As a health care provider, there are tools and programs available for students and their families post concussion to support the recovery process, manage symptoms, return to school to learn and play.

This session is designed as an introduction to prescribing buprenorphine for opioid use disorder.
- Learners will value the importance of non-stigmatizing language when discussing people who use drugs
- Learners will be able to identify epidemiologic trends including overdose deaths related to opioid use disorder (OUD)
- Learners will be able to identify and diagnose opioid intoxication, opioid withdrawal, and OUD
- Learners will appreciate the use of buprenorphine as a key tool for treating OUD and will be more comfortable considering its use clincially.

- Describe the Provider Bridge Program, the CAQ program and the new CAQs (Geriatric Medicine) available for PAs
- Describe volunteer opportunities and the ways PAs contribute to the work of NCCPA.
- Update on recent legislation guiding PA Practice, the PA Licensure Compact and title change.
- Describe the practice characteristics of Iowa PAs.
NCCPA will provide detailed information on the recertification options for PAs- the PANRE and the PANRE-LA. We will give an update for PAs in the 2029 recertification cohort, review application deadlines and assessment options. We will also provide a review of the new Provider Bridge Program and the CAQ program (highlighting the new Occupational Medicine and Geriatric Medicine CAQs). In addition, we will describe the various ways PAs contribute to the work of NCCPA and other resources available to Iowa PAs.

This session will guide attendees through a case in which point-of-care-ultrasound (POCUS) is utilized in a variety of settings, including urgent care, primary care, emergency, and hospital settings. Attendees will then apply what they have learned with hands-on scanning practice.
At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Identify at least five uses of POCUS that can be utilized across different medical specialties.
- Differentiate between three different types of ultrasound probes and their common uses.
- Discuss necessary clips to be obtained for five different POCUS studies.
- Demonstrate use of POCUS for five different types of scans.
- Apply at least five uses of POCUS to real-world clinical scenarios.
