The IPAS Annual Scholarships are awarded to deserving students presently enrolled in an approved in-state Physician Assistant Program. Students shall receive scholarships based on certain selection criteria.
The following criteria are used to evaluate each applicant's package. A total point system is used to award the five scholarships after the applications have been reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in an approved in-state Physician Assistant Program.
- Applicants must have achieved an outstanding academic record as an undergraduate.
- Applicants must demonstrate strong leadership capacity, a thorough understanding of the Physician Assistant concept, and show overall professionalism.
Student applications must include the following:
- Completed scholarship application
- Photocopy of official transcript(s) from his or her previous college/university.
- A one-page narrative adding anything the student feels will aid the committee's decision.
Applications are evaluated according to the following categories.
Leadership
- Demonstrated in school, community activities
- Demonstrated in prior medical experience, training, community activities
Academic Achievement
- Transcripts, GPA, previous degrees
Understanding of the PA Concept
- Drive, motivation, dedication to enter profession
- Dedication, involvement in student, civic and professional organizations
